The Kurt Weill Fest Dessau completes its three-part discovery of Weill’s career with this year’s offering, “New York, New York!” With over fifty events–concerts, stage performances, films, exhibitions, discussions, and more–the Fest will focus on Weill’s years in the U.S. (1935-1950) and the artistic and theatrical environment that he encountered and helped to shape. This year’s festival will feature several winners from the Lotte Lenya Competition and Artist-in-Residence James Holmes, noted conductor and Weill interpreter. Here are a few highlights:
