CD title: Angela Denoke sings Kurt Weill
Label: Honigtee Music (HTM 005)
Release date: 9 December 2012
Acclaimed opera soprano Angela Denoke, after performing several Weill song recitals, has put out a CD devoted entirely to his songs, including favorites from the German repertoire (“Denn wie man sich bettet,” “Alabama-Song,” etc.) and a sampling of songs from the Broadway shows (“Lonely House,” “My Ship”), including some relative rarities (e.g., “Don’t Look Now, but My Heart is Showing” from the film version of One Touch of Venus). The arrangements for piano or accordion and woodwind instruments were prepared by Tal Balshai. Fans in the vicinity of Vienna, rejoice: Denoke will offer her all-Weill program in recital at the Staatsoper on 13 February 2013.
