Corey Field is an intellectual property and entertainment lawyer based in Los Angeles. He is a former President of the Copyright Society of the U.S.A., and is currently the principal author of the legal treatise “Entertainment Law: Forms and Analysis” published by Law Journal Press; an Adjunct Professor at USC Gould School of Law; and Outside Counsel for the Sundance Film Festival and Sundance Institute. He is the founder of Corey Field Law Group, P.C., and prior to that practiced with a large national law firm. Before his legal career, Corey was an executive in the international classical music publishing industry, serving as Vice President of European American Music, the United States affiliate of the European publishers Schott Musik and Universal Edition.
Corey holds a BA in Music from UC Santa Barbara, a Ph.D. (D.Phil) in music from the University of York (England), and a J.D. cum laude from Widener University School of Law. He represents clients worldwide in IP and entertainment law matters, and in addition to being a Trustee of the Kurt Weill Foundation, also serves as a Trustee for the BMI Foundation and on the Classical Radio KUSC Board of Councilors, and has held leadership board positions with several organizations including the Recording Academy. In addition to his legal publications, he is the editor and author of music publications and books and received multiple Paul Revere Awards for Excellence in Music Publishing, awarded by the Music Publishers Association of the United States, where he formerly served as a board member.
