Five Steps to Troubleshoot Your Submittable Application
- Be sure to upload your application from a stable internet connection/non-mobile upload. We’ve found that even a momentary lapse in internet connectivity can interrupt and cancel a video upload. Similarly, uploading a large video file from one’s phone can cause the process to “time out,” and also interrupt an upload.
- Try submitting using a different internet browser. We’ve found that Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are the most consistently compatible with Submittable.
- Convert your audition video to an .mp4 file less than 1 GB in size, and try re-uploading. Submittable accepts a wide variety of video formats, however we have found that .mp4 files less than 1 GB in size are typically uploaded without complication by the software.
- If the problem with the video upload persists, upload your audition video to YouTube as an unlisted submission, and complete the following steps:
- Step 1: Log In/Create a YouTube Account
- Step 2: Go to YouTube Studio
- Step 3: Select “Upload Video”
- Step 4: Fill in the requested details
- Step 5: Set your video to “Unlisted” (Only those with the video link can watch your video)
- Step 6: Email the YouTube link to your video to kwfinfo@kwf.org with the note that you’ve been unable to upload your audition through the Submittable application. KWF will then append the link to your application.
- Step 7: Complete your Lenya Competition application as normal, with a “dummy video” uploaded in place of the audition video (this can be just a few seconds of an arbitrary video taken with your phone or other device.) This video audition field is required, and you’ll be unable to submit your application without a video file of some sort.
- If the steps above have been exhausted, you may wish to contact Submittable tech support.
If none of the steps above are successful, please contact kwfinfo@kwf.org, and we’ll be happy to find a solution.
Once again, we are committed to accepting all submissions from eligible contestants, even if problems with the application aren’t resolved until after the application deadline. We’re here to help, and look forward to watching your audition!
