Casting Announcement: Casting is complete for Love Life at Encores! Clarke Thorell (Mr. Cynic), Sara Jean Ford (Miss Mysticism), and John Edwards (Hobo) join Kate Baldwin (Susan Cooper) and Brian Stokes Mitchell (Sam Cooper). Susan and Sam’s children are played by Isabella Houston (Elizabeth) and Owen Tabaka (Johnny). The ensemble boasts two former Lenya Competition winners, Maria Failla and Daniel Schwait.

Encores! announced in May that Love Life is part of their 2020 season. For many Weill fans, that is excitement enough. Now there’s more news to share: the lead roles of Susan and Samuel Cooper have been cast! Kate Baldwin and Brian Stokes Mitchell, Encores! veterans and Broadway fixtures both, are on board.

They will join director Victoria Clark, music director Rob Berman, and choreographer JoAnn Hunter in creating the first performance of Love Life in New York since 1949. The presentation marks Weill’s fourth entry in the acclaimed Encores! series, after Lady in the Dark during the inaugural season (1994), One Touch of Venus (1996), and Lost in the Stars (2011).
